the good and the bad
The thursday before founders I bought a brand new, dark gray mazda 3. It makes me happy even though I've driven it only a couple times in the three weeks I've had it. It's way faster on acceleration then my old car. So much so that I passed a lot of people on the drive down just because I could. Of course, because Troy sucks so much, two days after I got back I got the low tire pressure alarm for one of the tires and discovered a three inch bolt stuck in the right rear tire. WTF!? 3 inches! At least it wasn't a new tire. Founders was pretty fun. Now I have a story about having to break into my hotel in the middle of downtown at 1 am. The answer is with a coathanger. When I was an undergrad, and alumni events were only twice a year so all these people came, they were coming to us, all the people I knew and was living with. Now I go there twice a year and there will always be people I don't know. But there will always be people I do know. I told my boyfriend yesterday that I was sick of him lieing to me and I wasn't going to take it anymore. Then he came over after work and fell asleep on my porch, and we went to a movie. So are we, friends? Going to roller derby tonight. Been sold out, but I hear it's in a bigger arena this time so hopefully I'll get in. My brother is now qualified to run a government nuclear reactor. PS. I wish I was getting a 90 thousand(!) dollar bonus. | | Saturday, January 31st, 2009 | | 6:10 pm |
Good news everybody. I have now collected all of the 50 state quarters. Go me! A couple weeks ago I went to the video games live show. http://videogameslive.com/Basically, theres an orchestra, in this case the VYO (vermont youth orchestra) and they play video game music and theres a video that plays at the same time. They played some from halo, the new starcraft (which hasn't even come out), mario, metroid, some arcade games, and a bunch of other things. Also, they had a kid up on stage to play guitar hero with the orchestra and on screen of course. They said that if he got over 2 million points then he would get a bag full of stuff. But when they told him that he asked them to put it on expert instead of hard, and then beat it. In front of a sold out audience. That, my friend, is validation. So it was a really awesome concert. My brother was there and he was totally into it. They played some music from games I haven't heard of but apparently he plays. The people that do the show travel around so everybody should go see it, you'll love it. | | Saturday, January 10th, 2009 | | 5:43 pm |
I got a manicure and pedicure for the first time today. I picked the girliest pink they had. | | Saturday, December 20th, 2008 | | 4:49 pm |
I've decided to go to christmas eve service this year. Not because I feel obligated or anything. My boss made some comment about C+E (christmas and easter) christians, people that only go to church for christmas and easter. I think for me this year, I'm tired of being stressed all the time. At least at christmas eve service it's about how great things are and are going to be, a very simple message really. I need less complications right now, and need to feel good about something. Plus, I really like the singing part. I miss that. Everybody singing together with songs that everyone knows. My dad said the other day that he's really bummed because it doesn't feel like my family is really into the holiday thing anymore, and he said the same thing last year. Personally, I've been thinking that for the last few years. This year when my brother brought home some of this classmates for thanksgiving was the first holiday in a while that I actually felt some togetherness going on. It doesn't seem like any of us are really happy about anything so we don't do things together even when we are all home at the same time. All the weekends and holidays just blur together, and become meaningless. So if I get to go sing with people, it doesn't matter if I believe in it and all, I think it'll make me happy for a while. First snowshoeing of the season yesterday. Yay! Also, the apartment is being decorated. On the down side, the boyfriend is being a real jerk and I can't trust his word anymore. Stupid emotional yoyos. | | Friday, November 21st, 2008 | | 4:58 pm |
Observation
I got a new coat. I've always wanted a new coat, one that actually looks good on me. Gray, wool, peacoat I think it is. Anyway, I was walking home and it felt like it didn't quite fit right. I pulled my shoulders back and it practically snapped into place. So I slouch when I'm walking too? How unfortunate. Now I understand why everybody wears scarves with those coats. Very cold neck it is. Also new shoes. Black sneakers with fuzzy purple trim! | | Sunday, November 9th, 2008 | | 11:28 am |
Put brand new darkish red sheets on my bed yesterday, and then slept on them. Maybe I'll get some decisivness via osmosis? | | Sunday, November 2nd, 2008 | | 10:46 am |
Two weeks ago when my parents were on vacation I was staying at the house so I could feed the cats in the morning. The one cat likes to sleep on people, so I would wake up with a cat pressed into my side. I miss that. Last week I was in potsdam ny to help test the equipment at the hospital there. I think I would have walked around town once if I was there by myself. Next week is saranac lake. It seems incredible but it's tiresome to have to go out for food every night. Especially when you have to go out with someone else and some people it's difficult to have good conversation with. ooh aah
My friend just moved into my apartment to be my roommate, and she works with kids, so now as of yesterday I've got my first cold in more then a year, stupid kid germs. So I'm sitting in my living room on the computer because I really don't feel like doing anything today, and I plugged in my lava lamp to make the room a little brighter, and it's doing a thing which I haven't seen it do before. The lava lamp is pretty old, from high school I think, and I don't know if the wax gets old or anything, but it isn't lava-ing as much as it used to. Right now it just has one central tower reaching from the bottom to the top, with one side having boluses of hot wax moving up and a constant stream on the other side going down. Also it seems to have gotten hard bits stuck in it. But yet, still has the hypnotic power that defines the lava lamp. mm, it's just so easy to keep staring at it. It goes woosh, and flows, and combines, and whooshes again. Right, lunch time. :P Current Mood: enthralledCurrent Music: DJ Energy | | Tuesday, May 20th, 2008 | | 10:21 pm |

I do indeed find it funny that after two weeks of unseasonable cold (low 30s), the weather channel says that april fools day is going to be 60 degrees. | | Sunday, February 17th, 2008 | | 2:32 pm |
Relationship drama is so much better when it's not happening to yourself. I had a strange experience last week. I don't usually pms at all, and when I do I just get weepy at random things. But between a combination of things sucking at work, my part time boyfriend being even more distant then usual, not getting to grad school, the birth control pills I'm on and an all around sense of things not going my way, I got stuck in a very depressive feedback loop that I just couldn't get out of. And it went on for days. Eventually it ended when the hormones changed and I actually got him to talk to me. So in the end I am convinced at the power of artificially high levels of hormones and neurochemistry in general, especially when it comes to mood and behavior. Also, thank the gods I am not actually depressed. Mood altering drugs would be a lot to deal with. I'm gonna try to be a better roommate too. Guess I'll clean my dishes more often. Apparently its time to look for apartments again. The walking to work thing really comes in handy. I recommend it to anyone. I got the dragonology poster (which has all kinds of fun facts and interactiveness for a whole year!) and it came with a sheet of dragon temporary tattoos. I had initially put some on as a kind of hide and seek game with my part time boyfriend (which failed miserably) but I put one on yesterday on my chest and apparently its partly visible when wearing scrubs. So I got a lot of comments about it today which was actually pretty fun. And if my boss doesn't bite my ass tomorrow I might get the day off. Yay! I bought a 6 pack of bacardi mojito beers yesterday. It does taste a lot like the mojito I had once, and I'm still not sure if I like or not. Guess I'll know after 6 of them. Copied down a bunch of stir-fry recipes yesterday and they're all pretty much the same. Heat oil, fry veggies, take out of pan, heat oil, cook meat, add veggies, add sauce. I can handle that. Now to find myself some cornstarch. Sitting between the heater and the door means my shoulders are different temperatures. Ar. I'm discovering which items are worth paying for over hannaford brand. Smartfood kicks hannaford popcorn's ass, but hannaford corn pops are the shit. Current Music: splashdown | | Sunday, January 27th, 2008 | | 8:22 pm |
I'm so excited to go on vacation that the bling I bought for my phone (yes, haha! bling for my phone!) is a palm tree. Score! palm tree! Alas, but apparently my phone doesn't have a little hook, but I managed to shove the little loop over the top so at least the phone closes and isn't stuck open. My part time boyfriend was making comments the other day that leads me to believe that he liked the way I looked when I was a little overweight better then now. I don't think I really like that. I'm gonna try to go to this class called jewelry perspectives. It's on monday from 5-9. Though it seems I already missed two classes waiting for the prof to get back to me, and I have to work late tomorrow. Maybe it's just not gonna work out. Ar. I want to actually use my benefits here. Also gotta avoid the sickness going around at work. I'll be in my corner thank you. Current Mood: boredCurrent Music: bobby valentino | | Friday, January 4th, 2008 | | 5:46 pm |
Had a totally kick ass time for new years. Then I slid off the road at 50 mph on the way home. And yet the airbag didn't go off, which is good because now I hear they're expensive. http://youtube.com/watch?v=xuZl9tRqjoQ this is both hilarious and related to work. and absolutely true.
